Interior Design vs. Decorating
Although many people use the terms interior design and decorating in the same context, the two terms are indeed very different. There is an art and science to interior design. An interior designer follows a systematic process which includes research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process, ending with an overall design that satisfies the clients needs. Interior design understands people's behavior and how a space will be used. It applies technical solutions within a structure to enhance the occupant's quality of life. In other words, interior design creates a space that is both functional and beautiful. Decoration, however is the furnishing of a space with fashionable items. Decoration is one of the services an interior designer will offer but a decorator does not design.
At Chiffon Interiors we offer both decorating and full service design. Our full service design projects involve the five stages of interior design; Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Documentation, and Installation.
Finally in this phase we get to see all our hard work come to life. Site visits are made in which we verify project quality and progress. Furnishings are delivered and installed on site. And lastly the moment you have been waiting for "the big reveal." The client sees the finished result for the first time.
